Mariner Energy is one of the leading independent oil and gas exploration and production companies in the Gulf of Mexico. At December 31, 2008, the company had interests in more than 300 blocks on the continental shelf and 90 blocks in deepwater. Nearly 90% of the company’s production comes from offshore, with a growing share of that coming from deepwater developments such as Geauxpher, Bass Lite and Northwest Nansen.

Mariner Energy’s onshore assets are concentrated in the Permian Basin, which comprise nearly half of the company’s 974 billion cubic feet equivalent in proved reserves (at year-end 2008).  As of December 31, 2008, the company holds net interests in more than 110,000 acres, primarily across the Spraberry Trend in West Texas.  Operations are focused on infill drilling and exploration, with the company holding more than 1,000 potential drilling locations in the trend.
